Overview
- Deputies were called around 5:40 p.m. Friday to assist U.S. Marshals serving an arrest warrant at a home on the 1500 block of Shell Oil Road in Brandon, Mississippi.
- Officials say the man fired at officers from inside the residence, barricaded himself alone, and prompted the deployment of armored vehicles and negotiators.
- Authorities reported additional rounds were fired during the standoff before a single gunshot was heard from inside at about 8:45 p.m.
- Officers entered the home and found the suspect with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
