Apex Legends Hosts Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Crossover Event

Event introduces new game mode, Buster Sword weapon, Materia Hop-Ups, and 36 themed cosmetics from January 9th to 30th.

Apex Legends is hosting a crossover event with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from January 9th to 30th, replacing unranked Battle Royale with a new mode called Final Fantasy VII Takeover.
The event introduces the Buster Sword as a new weapon that can be wielded by any character, offering light and heavy attacks, a block for reducing incoming damage, and a dash move.
Materia Hop-Ups, inspired by Final Fantasy VII's skill system, will be added, each with a distinct effect on players and certain weapons.
Players can unlock 36 Final Fantasy-themed cosmetics, including skins for various Apex Legends characters.
The event also introduces a new currency, Gil, which can be used to purchase event-limited items.
