Apatosaurus Skeleton Sells for €6 Million in Paris

The dinosaur, nicknamed Vulcan, will be donated to a museum by its anonymous buyer.

The 22-meter-long apatosaurus skeleton is composed of 75 to 80 percent original bones and is approximately 150 million years old.
Discovered in Wyoming in 2018, the skeleton was excavated between 2019 and 2021 with funding from a French investor.
The fossil consists of 300 bones and underwent two years of restoration in France before the auction.
The sale took place at a chateau southwest of Paris, marking the largest dinosaur auctioned worldwide.
The purchase agreement includes provisions for paleontologists to study the skeleton.
