• Top-ranked Texas placed three defenders on the first team—edge rusher Colin Simmons, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and defensive back Michael Taaffe.
• Second-ranked Penn State earned three first-team spots—running back Nicholas Singleton, guard Olaivavega Ioane and defensive tackle Zane Durant—with Kaytron Allen named second team as an all-purpose player.
• Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik was the voters’ overwhelming first-team choice at quarterback, as Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Alabama and Pittsburgh each notched two first-team selections.
• Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and Florida center Jake Slaughter returned to the preseason list after first-team All-America honors last season, with Buckeyes receiver Jeremiah Smith also on the first team.
