Anvisa Suspends Ypê Lots Ending in ‘1’ and Orders Nationwide Recall

An inspection at the Amparo factory found grave quality failures.

Overview

  • The regulator’s order, published Thursday in the federal register as Resolution 1.834/2026, halts manufacturing, sales, distribution and use, and recalls more than 20 Ypê detergents, liquid laundry soaps and disinfectants from lots that end in the number 1.
  • Anvisa says a joint inspection with São Paulo’s state health watchdog and Amparo’s local authority found failures in quality assurance, production and lab controls that break Good Manufacturing Practices and could let harmful microbes enter products.
  • Only items made by Química Amparo at the Amparo, São Paulo plant are covered, and state and city health teams will step up market checks to block any affected lots still on shelves.
  • Consumers who hold products from the listed lots should stop using them at once and contact Ypê’s customer service for recall instructions and reimbursement details.
  • Ypê called the decision arbitrary, said independent tests show the products are safe, and said it will appeal, while a recall last November for suspected bacterial contamination shows the plant faces ongoing scrutiny.
