Antoine Dupont Named World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year

The French rugby star becomes the first male athlete to win top honors in both XV and Sevens formats after a stellar Olympic and global season.

Antoine Dupont was awarded the World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year title at the 2024 World Rugby Awards in Monaco, following his pivotal role in France's Olympic gold medal victory.
Dupont made history as the first male player to win Player of the Year honors in both Rugby XV (2021) and Rugby Sevens disciplines.
In his debut year in Rugby Sevens, Dupont helped France secure three major titles, including the World Series in Madrid and the Olympic gold at the Paris 2024 Games.
Despite limited appearances in the Sevens circuit, Dupont's speed, game intelligence, and decisive plays, including two tries in the Olympic final against Fiji, solidified his impact.
France also celebrated other accolades at the World Rugby Awards, including Jérôme Daret being named Coach of the Year and two French players winning Try of the Year honors in Rugby XV.
