Antioch Standoff Ends with Arrest of Suspect in Violent Incident

A 61-year-old man was taken into custody after an eight-hour standoff with police following allegations of domestic violence and kidnapping.

  • Police responded to a domestic violence report at a home on Stonecrest Drive in Antioch around 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
  • The suspect, Tony Lamar Watson, allegedly assaulted, kidnapped, and robbed a 47-year-old woman before barricading himself inside his home.
  • Watson brandished a large knife and resisted officers' commands, leading to prolonged negotiations that ultimately involved the SWAT team.
  • After eight hours, Watson was apprehended by the SWAT team, taken for a medical evaluation, and then booked into the Contra Costa County Jail.
  • Charges against Watson include assault with a deadly weapon, felony domestic violence, kidnapping, robbery, violation of a court order, resisting arrest, and several unrelated felony warrants.
