Anti-government extremist pleads guilty in foiled plot to kidnap Michigan governor

Shawn Michael Fix plans to change his not-guilty plea in the foiled plot to kidnap Michigan's governor.
Fix is one of five men charged with providing material support for an act of terrorism in the scheme to abduct Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2020.
Fix is also charged with possessing a firearm while committing a felony.
The defendants were anti-government extremists who were angered by Whitmer’s policies at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The plot was thwarted by informants and undercover FBI agents, and four men were convicted in federal court in 2022.
