Overview
- Anthropic announced Wednesday that the Chrome side panel now acts as a full Cowork client so conversations started in the browser are saved to Claude history and can be resumed on desktop, web, or mobile.
- Users’ Skills, which are markdown instruction sets, and Connectors, which link Claude to services like Google Drive and Gmail, are now available inside the Chrome sidebar without extra setup.
- Claude in Chrome can view the current page and act using a person’s existing browser logins, including clicking links, navigating pages, entering text, and filling out forms.
- The rollout is live for Max and Team plans, will reach Pro users in the coming weeks, and is off by default for Enterprise accounts where admins can enable it and limit it to approved domains.
- Anthropic added automatic checks for consequential actions and prompts before purchases or sharing personal data but warns that prompt injection and other residual browser agent risks cannot be fully eliminated, raising new audit and security questions for organizations.
