Anthropic Opens Claude Agent Skills Standard, Adds Partner Directory and Enterprise Controls

Overview

  • Anthropic published the Agent Skills specification as an open standard for Claude on December 18.
  • Skills work in the Claude apps and Claude Code, with programmatic access available via the /v1/skills API endpoint.
  • A new directory highlights partner-built offerings from Atlassian, Canva, Cloudflare, Figma, Notion, Ramp, Sentry, Stripe, and Zapier.
  • Team and Enterprise administrators now have central controls to provision skills for users and set default enablement.
  • The rollout builds on October's Skills debut and Anthropic's MCP playbook, with UI additions like a Tools sidebar entry and full skill package previews to aid discovery.
