Overview
- Anthropic rolled out Claude Duet as a waitlisted research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the U.S., with the company announcing the launch on Oct. 21.
- Duet is built on the Opus 5.5 model and uses a user’s existing Claude memories, skills and connectors to deliver a daily briefing and pursue tasks without a live chat window.
- The agent runs inside its own cloud virtual machine with a browser, links to more than 6,000 connectors in the Claude Marketplace, and can continue work when a phone or computer is off.
- Duet can draft messages, schedule meetings, build dashboards and make business purchases using Stripe Link or Shop Pay after asking for user approval and paying with a virtual card to protect real card numbers.
- Anthropic has layered safety controls such as a classifier to block sharing of the strictest data, protections to keep passwords out of view, external testing and a bug-bounty program but warns the early version can misread threads and misjudge urgency.
