Anthropic Commits $30 Billion to Azure as Microsoft and Nvidia Invest Up to $15 Billion

The tie-up pairs long-term Azure capacity with NVIDIA hardware to speed Claude’s rollout to enterprises.

Overview

  • Anthropic will purchase $30 billion of Azure compute and contract up to one gigawatt of additional capacity, initially on NVIDIA Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems.
  • Nvidia plans to invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic and Microsoft up to $5 billion as part of the new partnership.
  • Nvidia and Anthropic are launching a deep engineering collaboration to optimize Claude for performance, efficiency and total cost of ownership, and to tune future NVIDIA architectures for Anthropic workloads.
  • Anthropic’s frontier Claude models—Sonnet 4.5, Opus 4.1 and Haiku 4.5—will be available in Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry, with continued access across Microsoft’s Copilot services.
  • The companies say the deal makes Claude the only frontier LLM available on the three most prominent cloud platforms, and The Verge reports Amazon remains Anthropic’s primary cloud provider and training partner.
