Overview

  • Julius Randle closed it out for Minnesota with 17 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, and Rudy Gobert added 11 points and 16 rebounds as the Wolves improved to 20-10 with their 10th win in 12 games.
  • New York fell to 20-9 as Towns finished with 40 points and 13 rebounds, recovering from a two-point outing in the previous game before picking up his sixth foul in the final minute.
  • The Knicks were without Jalen Brunson (right ankle management), OG Anunoby (left ankle soreness), Miles McBride (ankle) and Landry Shamet (shoulder), reshaping the rotation.
  • Rookie Tyler Kolek started for Brunson and posted career-best numbers with 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in a strong debut at point guard.
  • Minnesota recorded its first win over Towns since the trade that sent him to New York for Randle and Donte DiVincenzo; up next, the Knicks host Cleveland on Christmas Day and the Wolves visit Denver that night.
