ANTAD Sales Show Sharp Slowdown in May 2026

ANTAD reported same-store sales growth of 0.8% year-over-year for May 2026, the weakest monthly same-store increase since September 2025.
Total-store sales, which include recent openings, rose 3.0% in May and member chains recorded MXN 150,400 million in sales for the month.
January–May cumulative totals reached MXN 676,000 million with 2.2% growth at same stores and 4.4% at total stores.
Performance varied by format: department stores contracted by 4.2% at same stores, supermarkets rose about 2.5%, and specialized retailers led with 5.3% same-store growth.
Analysts said the moderation reflects weak wage growth and falling consumer confidence, and they flagged the 2026 World Cup and remittances as potential but uncertain supports for demand.
