Anopkumar Maudhoo Jailed for 10 Years Over £8.5m Property Fraud

Financial investigators are using Proceeds of Crime powers to trace assets abroad after the ERSOU probe.

Overview

  • Southwark Crown Court sentenced the 46-year-old after he admitted running a scheme that sold homes and plots he did not own across north London, Hertfordshire and Essex.
  • Maudhoo pleaded guilty to 31 offences, with a further 45 frauds taken into consideration, alongside counts for possessing false identity documents and perverting the course of justice.
  • Detectives say he used multiple aliases and forged conveyancing materials through front companies to stage about 75 illicit sales between 2021 and 2024.
  • Police seized a speedboat and 19 high-value cars, and searches linked the proceeds to luxury living including a £3 million Radlett house and a high-rent Thames-side apartment.
  • ERSOU confirmed asset recovery is under way, and Interpol has issued a Silver Notice to help locate remaining assets overseas as victims await compensation progress.
