Overview
- Anonymous Content announced on Thursday that it has optioned Nicholas Boggs’s Baldwin: A Love Story and will develop it as a feature film with the Obamas’ Higher Ground.
- The company has commissioned Nicholas Boggs and novelist Marlon James to write the screenplay and named them as executive producers on the project.
- Producers attached include Darren Walker and David Levine for Anonymous Content, Anikah McLaren for Higher Ground, and Howard Gertler, with other producing details still in early stages.
- The announcement follows Emerson Collective’s material investment and a reconstituted board that brings Laurene Powell Jobs and Richard Plepler onto Anonymous Content as the company shifts from fee-for-hire work to financing and leading projects.
- Boggs’s biography draws on newly uncovered archival material about Baldwin’s personal and artistic relationships and has won major awards, a background that the producers say frames the film as a culturally focused literary adaptation rather than a commercial franchise.
