Annett Kaufmann Secures Medal at European Table Tennis Championships

The 18-year-old German player advances to the mixed semifinals with partner Patrick Franziska in Linz.

Annett Kaufmann and Patrick Franziska reached the semifinals of the mixed doubles at the European Table Tennis Championships in Linz.
The duo defeated the Romanian pair Bernadette Szoczs and Ovidiu Ionescu 3:1 and the British team Liam Pitchford and Anna Hursey 3:0 in four hours.
Kaufmann's strong performances at the Paris Olympics earlier this year have made her a rising star in table tennis.
Patrick Franziska, ranked 12th in the world, adds this to his collection of six previous medals from World and European Championships in doubles and mixed events.
The semifinals will see Kaufmann and Franziska face off against Austrian players Sofia Polcanova and Robert Gardos.
