Annecto to Close After 70 Years of Aged Care and Disability Support

Citing financial pressures alongside service model shifts, Annecto is coordinating with federal agencies to transfer its more than 3,000 clients to other providers.

Overview

  • The organisation will cease operations in July 2025, ending services that began in the 1950s.
  • Leadership cited persistent financial pressures and shifts in service models as reasons for the closure.
  • Annecto supports over 3,000 older adults, veterans, and people with disabilities across 19 sites in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory.
  • More than 1,000 employees will be affected by the shutdown, which comes after reporting $85.9 million in revenue and a $993,000 net surplus in the 2023-24 financial year.
  • Federal agencies including the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the National Disability Insurance Agency, and the Department of Veterans' Affairs are assisting with client transitions to accredited providers.
