Anne Burrell, ‘Worst Cooks in America’ Host, Dies at 55 with Cause of Death Unconfirmed

Authorities have opened a formal investigation after her body was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home.

Overview

  • Officers from the NYPD found Burrell unconscious and unresponsive at her Brooklyn residence on June 17, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The Office of Chief Medical Examiner has not yet released autopsy results to determine the cause of her death.
  • A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Burrell rose to fame as a sous chef on Iron Chef America and went on to host Secrets of a Restaurant Chef before leading more than a decade of Worst Cooks in America, most recently appearing on House of Knives in March 2025.
