• Officers from the NYPD found Burrell unconscious and unresponsive at her Brooklyn residence on June 17, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
• The Office of Chief Medical Examiner has not yet released autopsy results to determine the cause of her death.
• A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Burrell rose to fame as a sous chef on Iron Chef America and went on to host Secrets of a Restaurant Chef before leading more than a decade of Worst Cooks in America, most recently appearing on House of Knives in March 2025.
• She is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton; his son, Javier; her mother, Marlene; her sister, Jane; and her brother, Ben.
• Tributes have poured in from Food Network colleagues, fellow chefs and fans praising her energetic personality and longstanding philanthropic work with City Harvest, the Garden of Dreams Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
