Overview

  • On August 1, ANMAT published Disposición 5095/2025 to suspend production and supermarket sales of Valle de Tunuyán olive oil for lacking mandatory sanitary labeling.
  • A day earlier, Disposición 5434/2025 banned nationwide production, fractioning and commercialization of Mito Andino extra virgin olive oil over absent RNPA and RNE registrations.
  • Investigations prompted by a consumer complaint and INAL inspection found the RNE and RNPA codes on both brands were falsified or nonexistent.
  • ANMAT urged consumers to verify Registro Nacional de Establecimiento and Registro Nacional de Productos Alimenticios numbers on food products to ensure traceability and avoid health risks.
  • These actions broaden ANMAT’s enforcement campaign beyond cosmetics to food staples, leveraging provincial partnerships and its Monitoring and Advertising Oversight program.
