ANMAT Bans Unregistered Azelaic-Acid Cosmetics Following Olive-Oil Withdrawals

The regulator cites absent registrations with falsified labels that prevent traceability and safety assurance.

Overview

  • Disposición 6991/2025 orders a nationwide halt to use, sale, advertising and online listings of azelaic-acid cosmetics, including The Ordinary’s “Crema azelaic acid suspensión 10%”.
  • The ban also covers units from brands such as VIVA DERMO SKIN CARE, BLENIE, KISO CARE, NINE LESS, ANUA, ZEALSEA, PAULA’S CHOICE, COS DE BAHA and BECHOICEN.
  • ANMAT classifies the cosmetics as illegitimate and not listed in its database, with unknown manufacturers and no guarantees on formulation, efficacy or safety.
  • Provincial and Buenos Aires City health authorities were notified to remove affected products from supermarkets and e-commerce platforms, with disposal procedures activated.
  • Earlier measures Disposiciones 6677/2025 and 6678/2025 prohibited two olive oils with falsified RNE/RNPA across all lots and presentations, including manufacture and fractioning.
