ANMAT Bans 'Los Meleros' Honey Nationwide Over Safety and Registration Violations

The move follows an INAL inquiry that found the product could not be reliably traced to a registered producer.

Overview

  • Through Disposición 6228/2025 published in the Boletín Oficial, ANMAT prohibited the elaboration, fractionation and commercialization of the product across Argentina, including online platforms.
  • The label cited origin in El Sauzalito, Chaco, and listed registry numbers that could not be validated, including a RENAPA entry that authorities determined does not exist.
  • INAL checks via SiFeGA and the Chaco bromatology authority confirmed the absence of RNE and RNPA, leading to Incidente Federal No. 4740.
  • Regulators found violations of Law 18.284, Decree 2126/71 and the Argentine Food Code, after which INAL’s Department of Food Standards recommended a nationwide prohibition.
  • ANMAT stated the ban covers any lot, presentation or expiration date, with jurisdictional notifications issued to support market withdrawal and compliance.
