Overview

  • Anker Innovations and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 1,158,000 PowerCore10000 powerbanks (Model A1263) sold in the US from June 2016 through December 2022.
  • The recall follows 19 reported fires or explosions caused by overheating lithium-ion batteries, resulting in two minor burn injuries and about $60,700 in property damage.
  • US consumers can verify affected units by checking model and serial numbers and then claim a free replacement or refund via a dedicated recall webpage.
  • Although the PowerCore10000 was also sold in Europe and Germany, no recall has been announced there yet, though regulators may extend the action internationally.
  • This follows Anker’s September 2024 recall of another powerbank and highlights growing concerns over lithium-ion charger safety, especially in air travel.
