Overview
- Starting June 27, Anker reaffirmed its U.S. recall of roughly 1.16 million PowerCore 10000 units (model A1263) sold from 2016 to 2022 and simultaneously launched a global recall for five more models (A1257, A1647, A1652, A1681 and A1689).
- The issue stems from vendor-sourced lithium-ion battery cells that may contain impurities or poor insulation, risking short circuits, overheating, smoke and fire.
- Customers are told to immediately stop using any affected power bank and verify eligibility by checking serial numbers on Anker’s recall portal.
- U.S. users can choose a free replacement or a $30 gift card while Chinese customers may opt for a full refund, upgrade exchange or gift card, and all recalled units must be taken to municipal hazardous waste facilities.
- Anker says it will work with suppliers to implement stricter oversight and testing protocols to prevent future battery defects.
