Overview

  • The National Selection Trials 3 & 4 began on June 23 at Dehradun’s Trishul Shooting Range to choose the Indian team for the 16th Asian Shooting Championships and the ISSF World Cup.
  • Olympian Anish Bhanwala led Day 1 by scoring 293 in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men’s Stage 1 qualification.
  • Day 2 finals saw Umamahesh Maddineni win the men’s 10m Air Rifle and Sift Kaur Samra take gold in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
  • Only Group ‘A’ athletes are contesting all Olympic rifle and pistol events under a quota system that caps entries per discipline.
  • India’s shooters arrive on strong form after winning 19 medals, including eight golds, across the South American and Munich legs of the ISSF World Cup circuit.
