Animation Guild Wins NLRB-Certified Units at DreamWorks, Netflix and ‘Ted’
NLRB certification clears the way for contract talks focused on pay, benefits, and parity for remote employees.
Overview
- DreamWorks Animation remote staffers voted 52–10 to unionize with The Animation Guild, and the studio said it will formally recognize the unit and begin negotiations.
- Feature production workers at Netflix Animation Studios voted 44–13 to join the union in a December 30 NLRB election.
- Production workers on NBCUniversal’s Ted voted unanimously on December 23 to join The Animation Guild and The Editors Guild.
- The National Labor Relations Board has certified all three new bargaining units following the elections.
- Guild leaders say the wins further an ongoing strategy to expand jurisdiction and protect workers across locations, including employees performing roles previously covered only on LA campuses.
