Animation Guild Secures Tentative Three-Year Deal with Studios

The Animation Guild (IATSE Local 839) reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers after months of negotiations.
The deal outlines wage increases of 7% in the first year, 4% in the second year, and 3.5% in the third year of the contract.
Provisions for remote work were included, allowing animators to participate in union projects while living outside of Los Angeles due to high living costs.
The contract includes protections against the use of artificial intelligence in animation, with notification and consultation requirements, though full details have yet to be disclosed.
Guild members will review and vote on the agreement, which also addresses health and pension fund contributions and staffing minimums for writers.
