Andy Paley, Acclaimed Composer and Brian Wilson Collaborator, Dies at 72

The prolific musician, known for his work on SpongeBob SquarePants and with legendary artists, passed away after a battle with cancer.

Andy Paley, a celebrated composer and producer, died on November 20, 2024, at the age of 72 after a brief battle with cancer.
Paley was instrumental in crafting music for SpongeBob SquarePants, including the fan-favorite song 'The Best Day Ever,' and co-wrote the 2012 'It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! Album.'
He collaborated extensively with Brian Wilson, co-writing and producing tracks for Wilson's critically acclaimed 1988 solo album and the unreleased 'Wilson-Paley Sessions.'
Paley's career spanned decades, working with iconic artists such as Madonna, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Ramones, Patti Smith, and Elton John, as well as contributing to film soundtracks like 'Dick Tracy.'
He is survived by his wife Heather Crist Paley, their twin sons Jackson and Charlie, and his siblings Sarah, Brewster, Debby, and Jonathan.
