Andy Kotelnicki Returns to Kansas as Associate Head Coach

Kansas has not detailed his duties, with Jim Zebrowski remaining offensive coordinator.

Lance Leipold announced Kotelnicki’s return Friday, confirming a reunion after two seasons at Penn State.
Kotelnicki and Leipold have worked together for about 11 years across Kansas, Buffalo and UW-Whitewater.
During his previous Kansas stint, the 2022 offense averaged a school-record 7.0 yards per play and the 2022–23 units ranked among the program’s highest-scoring.
At Penn State, Kotelnicki oversaw the Big Ten’s No. 3 offense in 2024 and a College Football Playoff semifinal run, followed by a 2025 downturn after QB Drew Allar’s broken ankle and James Franklin’s firing.
Penn State moved on under new head coach Matt Campbell, who hired Taylor Mouser as offensive coordinator for 2026, while Kansas noted Zebrowski remains OC after KU finished 10th in Big 12 scoring last season.
