Andy Farrell Named Head Coach for British & Irish Lions 2025 Tour
Farrell to Begin Role in December 2024, Marking First Englishman to Lead Lions Since 2005
- Andy Farrell has been named as the head coach for the British & Irish Lions 2025 tour of Australia.
- Farrell, the current Ireland head coach, will be the first Englishman to take charge of the Lions since Sir Clive Woodward on the 2005 tour of New Zealand.
- Farrell will begin his role in December 2024 and will work solely with the Lions until the conclusion of the 2025 Tour to Australia.
- Farrell's appointment was a unanimous decision and he will confirm his full British & Irish Lions coaching team in due course.
- Farrell has previously served as a defence coach for the Lions, contributing to the 2013 Series win in Australia and the drawn Series in New Zealand in 2017.
