Overview
- Andriy Shevchenko, former AC Milan and Chelsea striker, has been elected as the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
- Shevchenko was the only candidate for the post and was nominated by all permanent members of the UAF a month before the election.
- In the election, Shevchenko received 93 out of 94 votes, with the only non-vote being his own as he chose not to participate.
- Shevchenko replaces Andriy Pavelko, the UAF's long-time president who is currently facing trial in Ukraine on embezzlement charges.
- Shevchenko is Ukraine's all-time top scorer with 48 goals in 111 matches from 1995 to 2012 and led the national team to the quarter-finals of the 2020 European Championship.
