Andrew McCutchen Stays with Pirates, Ready to Contribute More

Despite Recovery from Injury, McCutchen Believes in Pirates' Potential for Improvement

Andrew McCutchen, the 37-year-old Pirates icon, has signed a $5 million, one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates, stating that he still has more to contribute to the team.
McCutchen's 2023 season ended in early September with a partially torn left Achilles, but he has been recovering well and is currently going through his usual December routine of training.
The five-time All-Star outfielder/designated hitter is one homer shy of 300 and got his 2,000th hit last June.
McCutchen believes that the Pirates, who went 76-86 in 2023, are ready to take another step forward next year.
The Pirates have added veteran left-handed pitchers Marco Gonzales and Martín Pérez to the rotation and first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who played with McCutchen in Milwaukee, agreed to a one-year deal this week.
