Andrew Bailey Returns to Red Sox as New Pitching Coach

Former Giants' Coach Brings Successful Track Record, Aims to Bolster Red Sox's Pitching

Andrew Bailey, former San Francisco Giants’ pitching coach, has been hired as the new pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox.
Bailey, who had a successful tenure with the Giants, helped three different pitchers finish among the top six in National League Cy Young Award voting.
During his time with the Giants, the team's pitchers ranked sixth in baseball with a 3.80 ERA while allowing the fewest home runs and posting the third-highest strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Bailey's first stint in Boston as a player didn't pan out well due to injuries, but he is eager for a second opportunity with the team.
Bailey and Craig Breslow, the new chief baseball officer for the Red Sox, were teammates on the 2013 World Series champion Red Sox and co-founded the Strike 3 Foundation, which raises money for childhood cancer research.
