Overview

  • Andre Low and Eileen Chong have been declared Non-Constituency Members of Parliament (NCMPs) via a May 19 Government e-Gazette notice signed by returning officer Han Kok Juan.
  • Low, who contested Jalan Kayu SMC, received 48.53% of the vote, the highest among losing opposition candidates in the 2025 General Election.
  • Chong, part of the Workers’ Party team in Tampines GRC, secured 47.37% of the vote, the second-highest percentage among unelected opposition candidates.
  • These appointments raise the Workers’ Party’s parliamentary representation to 12 MPs, ensuring a strengthened opposition presence.
  • The NCMP scheme, reformed in 2016, guarantees at least 12 opposition MPs in Parliament and grants NCMPs the same voting rights as elected MPs.
