André Jobin, Co-Creator of Beloved Comic Yakari, Dies at 96

The Swiss writer known as Job brought the adventures of a young Sioux who speaks with animals to life, captivating generations of children.

André Jobin, better known as Job, passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 96, as announced by the Editions Le Lombard.
Job, alongside illustrator Derib, created the iconic comic series Yakari in 1969, which became a staple in children's literature.
The series, featuring a young Sioux boy who communicates with animals, has expanded to 42 volumes and been adapted into various media, including animated series and films.
Yakari is celebrated for its themes of pacifism, ecological awareness, and harmony with nature, distinguishing it from other post-war Western-themed comics.
Job was honored with the Prix Jeunesse at the Angoulême International Comics Festival twice, in 1982 and 2006, for his work on Yakari.
