Andhra Pradesh Unveils ₹4,500 Crore Plan to Upgrade 15,000 Km of Roads

Officials say the push will lower logistics costs to draw investment.

  • The action plan details riding-surface improvements on 1,250 km (₹400 crore), upgrades on 1,433 km (₹600 crore), intensive patch work on 5,946 km (₹500 crore), further upgrades on 2,104 km (₹1,000 crore) and improvements on 4,233 km (₹2,000 crore).
  • The government outlined a logistics-hub blueprint that includes a planned Andhra Pradesh Logistics Corporation and multimodal integration across roads, rail, ports, aviation, pipelines and waterways.
  • According to the Chief Minister, 4,739 km of national highway works are underway at about ₹1.5 lakh crore, placing the state among the leaders on highway density.
  • Four proposed ports—Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Mulapeta and Duggarajapatnam—are expected to add around 100 million tonnes of capacity, with 23 port-road connectivity projects spanning 432 km identified at ₹18,485 crore.
  • Bhogapuram Airport near Visakhapatnam is targeted to be operational by August 2026, and officials also flagged plans to develop Amaravati as an eastern gateway airport.
