Andhra Pradesh to Release 3,850 Cusecs Into Jeedipalli Reservoir From July 15

Officials are finalizing preparations ahead of the July 15 release into Jeedipalli Reservoir to fill downstream storages for irrigation with a focus on groundwater recharge.

  • Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting on July 5 and instructed officials to finalize preparations days before the scheduled release.
  • Under Phase-1 of the Handri–Neeva Sujala Sravanthi Project, 3,850 cusecs will flow into Jeedipalli Reservoir starting July 15.
  • Released water will fill the Gollapalli, Marala and Cherlopalli reservoirs before being routed for 15 days to the Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir.
  • Official orders call for Phase-II canal releases to the Punganur and Kuppam branch canals by July 31.
  • State reservoirs now hold a record 419 TMC of water, up from 182 TMC this time last year, while all districts except Kadapa have reported normal rainfall and optimistic forecasts.
