Andhra Pradesh Secures Statewide Access to Canva for Education

The government says free access will expand digital literacy and creative learning across public schools as technical integration and rollout plans are finalised.

Overview

  • The state education department and Samagra Shiksha signed a memorandum with Canva on June 18 at Vidya Bhavan in Mangalagiri to formalise the partnership for government schools.
  • Officials publicly announced the scheme on June 20, saying Andhra Pradesh is the first Indian state to offer statewide Canva for Education access to students, teachers and education officials.
  • SCERT will build Telugu and English template libraries aligned to the state curriculum and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy goals to make lesson materials locally relevant.
  • Teachers will be trained through a phased Training of Trainers model and the platform will include role-based permissions and teacher-controlled AI options to protect students’ data and classroom use.
  • Planned technical links with the LEAP app, Google Workspace and school Chromebooks are subject to feasibility and a four-phase rollout, so schedules, integration tests and data-governance details remain to be finalised.
