Andhra Pradesh Restores Ration Supply Through Fair Price Shops

The government expects restored shop-based distribution to rein in malpractices by replacing unreliable mobile units.

Overview

  • Starting June 1, 29,795 fair price shops reopened for ration distribution from the 1st to the 15th of each month in two daily shifts.
  • The administration will deliver essential commodities directly to 15.6 lakh senior citizens and differently-abled beneficiaries by the fifth of every month.
  • Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar forecasts annual savings of ₹385 crore and plans to install CCTV surveillance and QR code complaint systems at shops.
  • Under NTR Bharosa, the state allocates ₹33,600 crore annually to disburse ₹4,000 pensions to over 6.8 million people on the first day of each month.
  • Additional welfare measures include launching 'Talli ki Vandanam' from June 12, free bus travel for women from August 15, and ₹20,000 annual aid per farmer under 'Annadata Sukhibhava'.
