- The move restores 'Kadapa' to the district’s name after it was retitled YSR District in 2010 to honour former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
- Originally spelled 'Cuddapah', the district was officially renamed 'Kadapa' in 2005.
- Kadapa, meaning 'threshold' in Telugu, has historically served as the gateway for pilgrims travelling to Tirupati.
- The district, home to YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is set to host the Telugu Desam Party’s Mahanadu event from May 27 to 29.
