TDP MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu announced a ₹50,000 fixed deposit for families with a third girl child and a cow for a third boy child in his constituency of Vizianagaram.
The initiative, revealed during an International Women's Day event, aims to promote population growth and address declining birth rates in South India.
The MP stated that the ₹50,000 fixed deposit for a girl child would grow to ₹10 lakh by the time she reaches marriageable age, highlighting the importance of empowering women.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has praised the initiative, linking it to his broader push for demographic management and economic sustainability.
The Chief Minister also announced extended maternity leave for women employees, regardless of the number of children, to encourage family growth and support working mothers.
