Overview
- The High Court suspended the Tirupati Lok Adalat order in the 2023 Parakamani case, suo motu impleaded the CB-CID chief, and directed investigators to seize all related records and submit them in a sealed cover before the October 13 hearing.
- Two TTD board members released CCTV footage they say is from the Parakamani counting centre and questioned why the FIR noted only USD 900 when officials said about USD 11,300 was initially found on the accused.
- TDP and BJP leaders alleged foreign currency worth roughly ₹100 crore was diverted during 2019–24, naming former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and claiming portions reached Tadepalli Palace; they also alleged investments in real estate.
- Bhumana Karunakar Reddy denied wrongdoing, said the theft was detected under YSRCP, cited assets surrendered to TTD through the Lok Adalat process, and demanded a CBI investigation instead of a state CID probe.
- A TTD board member claimed an official may turn government witness, as political leaders press for accountability and the court-ordered probe reexamines procedures and prior settlements.
