Andhra Pradesh Hands Over 3 Lakh Homes as Naidu Sets 2029 Housing Goal

State top-ups plus a Rs 3,220 crore completion fund aim to speed deliveries.

Overview

  • Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu virtually launched housewarmings from Devagudipalle, handing over about 3,00,192 units under PMAY-Urban (2,28,034), PMAY-Gramin (65,292) and PMAY-Janman (6,866).
  • The government targets another 5.9 lakh handovers by March 2026 and says every poor household should have a home by 2029.
  • PMAY grants stand at Rs 2.5 lakh per urban house and Rs 2 lakh per rural house, with state top-ups of Rs 50,000 for BCs and SCs, Rs 75,000 for STs, Rs 1 lakh for primitive tribes and an added Rs 50,000 for Muslims.
  • A Rs 3,220 crore package will help complete stalled houses, with officials citing benefits for 3.75 lakh BC families, 1.57 lakh SC families, 46,000 ST families and 22,000 tribal families.
  • District data show uneven progress, with Visakhapatnam leading at 38,691 completions and pending units reported in Vizianagaram (2,121) and Parvathipuram Manyam (1,215), as Naidu also alleged cancellations and fund diversion under the previous YSRCP government.
