- Government Order GO-1378 dated July 22 officially constituted the Group of Ministers to examine proposals for renaming and redrawing local administrative boundaries.
- Its members include senior cabinet ministers in charge of revenue, municipal administration, home affairs, roads, water resources, civil supplies and health.
- The Special Chief Secretary to the Revenue Department has been appointed as the panel’s convenor.
- The panel will assess the practicality of proposed changes, resolve boundary disputes and evaluate citizens’ access to administrative headquarters.
- It must also safeguard historical and cultural affiliations and ensure balanced socio-economic development before submitting its consolidated recommendations.
