Andhra Pradesh Disburses Rs 8,745 Crore in Thalliki Vandanam Scheme

Inactive bank accounts are being resolved through grievance channels ahead of the July 5 deadline for annual student aid.

Overview

  • Launched on June 12, the scheme offers Rs 15,000 per year to mothers or guardians of students from Class 1 to intermediate.
  • As of June 13, Rs 8,745 crore has been credited to accounts of mothers of 67.27 lakh students.
  • Part of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘Super Six’ promises, it covers government, private aided and private unaided schools and junior colleges.
  • Rs 2,000 of each Rs 15,000 payment is deducted at source to upgrade school infrastructure, hygiene and sanitation.
  • The government set July 5 as the final remittance date and launched the Mana Mitra app for reporting failed transfers.
