Andhra Pradesh Confirms Disability Pensions Only for Those Above 40% After Reverification

  • Officials say 5.55 lakh of 7.95 lakh certificates have been rechecked through home visits and assessments at 125 medical centers over nine months, with notices issued to those found ineligible.
  • Around 80,000 ineligible or fake beneficiaries have been identified through the exercise, according to the minister.
  • Roughly 20,000 people initially ruled ineligible for disability pensions are being shifted to other social-security schemes such as old-age and widow pensions starting this month.
