Andhra Pradesh Clears ₹22,002-Crore Incentives, 480 Acres for Google AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

The GO No. 40 decision under the state’s Data Centre Policy moves the five-year Google plan from announcement to implementation.

Overview

  • The state approved a ₹22,002-crore package for Raiden Infotech, including a 25% land cost discount, a 10% capital subsidy capped at ₹2,129 crore, full stamp duty and registration exemptions, SGST reimbursements, a ₹1/unit power tariff subsidy, and long-term electricity and water concessions.
  • APIIC earmarked 480 acres across Adavivaram, Mudasarlova, Tarluvada and Rambilli, with up to 15 acres reserved for a subsea cable landing station to link into Google’s global network.
  • The ₹87,520-crore project targets more than 1,000 MW of advanced data-centre capacity, paired with large-scale energy buildout and expanded fibre connectivity in and around Visakhapatnam.
  • Reports cite projections of roughly 6,000 direct and 30,000 indirect jobs for the region, alongside significant recurring state revenue once operations scale.
  • The approval prompted political crossfire in Tamil Nadu, where AIADMK leaders accused the DMK of losing the project, while Andhra minister Nara Lokesh responded with the message “He chose Bharat.”
