Overview
- Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar launched the drive in Nandivelugu village of Tenali on Sunday, joined by Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar and MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad.
- A total of 1.46 crore beneficiaries will receive the new cards statewide, including 5.85 lakh in Guntur district and 83,000 in Tenali constituency.
- The government says the smart-card expansion will ensure ration benefits reach more than four crore people across Andhra Pradesh.
- Regular supplies of items such as red gram, palm oil and wheat will continue through about 29,000 fair price shops across the state.
- Officials highlighted features including QR code tracking of entitlements, portability to collect rations at any outlet in the state and a toll-free help line at 1967.
