Andhra Cabinet Clears ₹15,000 Aid for Auto, Taxi Drivers Ahead of Oct. 4 Launch

The government casts the direct cash support as relief for drivers whose earnings dropped after free bus travel for women.

Overview

  • More than 2,90,000 autorickshaw, motor cab and maxi cab owners will receive ₹15,000 each in 2025–26, with ₹436 crore approved for the programme.
  • The chief minister is set to kick off the Auto Drivers’ Sevalo payouts in Vijayawada on October 4, with K. Pawan Kalyan, N. Lokesh and P. V. N. Madhav scheduled to attend.
  • Funds will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, with a statewide list published on September 24 and eligibility checks available via the GSWS‑NBM portal or Gram/Ward Secretariats.
  • Eligibility requires permanent Andhra Pradesh residency, ownership and operation of the registered vehicle, and valid licence, Aadhaar and ration card, while drivers of rented vehicles are excluded.
  • The NDA coalition says the support increases the previous ₹10,000 assistance and pairs with reduced green tax on older vehicles and road upgrades to ease operating costs.
