Andalusia's June Waiting-List Update Shows Gains, Córdoba Setbacks

The release highlights shorter regional delays from recent plans alongside surging backlogs at Córdoba’s Reina Sofía.

  • SAS published the June 2025 cut-off, reporting 223,074 surgeries in the first half of the year, with 86% performed in public hospitals.
  • The mean surgical wait fell from 150 days in December 2023 to 108 days in June 2025, with 20,319 fewer patients pending under guarantee and 30,074 fewer outside legal timeframes.
  • Hospital Reina Sofía in Córdoba lists 18,456 people awaiting surgery, including 4,922 waiting over a year, with an average delay of 200 days and more than 2,000 additional patients year on year.
  • Other Córdoba centres also worsened, with Valle de los Pedroches rising to 1,366 patients from 1,203 and Infanta Margarita reaching 3,756, a 38% increase versus June 2024.
  • Provincial results are uneven, as Sevilla, Cádiz, Huelva, Almería and Jaén report notable improvements, while Málaga has more patients on the list but a lower average delay of 81 days.
